Are you managing your time well?

We hear people who say "I don't have enough time to do what I want to do" -- Time management is one of the most important skill that I acquired during my MBA while working full time and in the current product management role. I am listing down some tips that has helped me to manage my time better, hope it helps the community.

⭐️ Keep it simple, pick Yes or No! -- If you are asked to do an activity for which your answer is "maybe" or "I don't know", it's most likely that you are not going to give justice to that activity. Learn to be decisive, this will free up a lot of time in your calendar.

⭐️ Own your time -- Consciously recognize the fact that you are in control of your own time. If you decided to play a game, watch Netflix and skip a workout, you chose to do that! If you didn't have time to do something, perhaps it's just not a priority.

⭐️ To-do list -- I am sure most of you do it already, but ensure to complete it by EOD. Completed list of task motivates you to complete more task.

⭐️ Artificial deadlines -- Remember Parkinson's law, "work expands to fill the time available for its completion". If you decide to give a task 4hrs to complete, you are bound to use all 4hrs. Keep artificial deadlines and stick to it.

⭐️ Use Calendly -- chatting back and forth for scheduling a meeting can literally take hours, waiting for a concrete response. Keep a personal Calendly link -- it might be weird giving links to schedule a meeting, but this literally saves your time which otherwise would be spent in back and forth communication.

⭐️ Don't beat yourself up -- At the end of the day, be happy about the fact that you were able to accomplish certain tasks that you decided to do. Consciously choose to feel good about it, rinse and repeat. Being productive is about efficiency and consistency.

I hope this helps to better manage your time ; "Either run the day or the day runs you" -- a quote that has profound effect on me.
